  • Focused mind begins as a rested mind . 6 pm to 10 pm is the time of kapha where body starts to slow down due to sluggish nature of kapha and this is the time you need to wind up dinner and slow down.
  • Melatonin is the sleep hormone that brain produces in response to darkness,being exposed to bright light at night can block the melatonin production .it is ideal to go to sleep at around 10 pm - after having turned off electronics at least an hour prior .
  • After 10 pm pitta becomes active and the mind will re- engage , making sleep more difficult. That also explains your midnight cravings .
  • Sleep varies from person to person , those who are VATA predominant are inclined to have less sleep and those with kapha are inclined towards excess sleep . Even more important than the timing of sleep is the soundness of sleep .
  • Sound sleep is important for health and the balance of sound sleep with adequate duration gives pleasure , happiness,nourishment and strength .On the contrary inadequate sleep produces diseases , weakness,emaciation of the body, impotence and in rare instances premature death .
